Region Vestviken consists of the neighbouring municipalities of Lier, Hurum and Røyken. The region has a central position being located between Oslo and Drammen along the E18 and Route 23 main roads. The region has about 56000 inhabitants living in villages and rural areas with nearby fjord and forest. The region is one of the fastest growing in the country regarding population and business development. The purpose of the regional council is to have primary focus on cooperation regarding transport, provision of services and business development.
Region Vestviken was established on 14th March 2012. The leader is Monica Vee Bratlie (conservative mayor in Hurum) and the deputy leader is Børre Pettersen (Labour party, Røyken).

Jan Erik Lindøe is the managing director of the region and has responsibility for facilitation of cases, following up decisions and participating in regional collaborative forums.
